Ana Davitashvili explores occurrences of females as "houris," "spouses," "pure spouses," and "believing women" in early Islamic paradise. The research meticulously analyzes the intra-Qur'anic development of images of women in and outside paradise and examines the idea of transformation of believing women into houris as well as the interpretations of purity and transparency of spouses in early Islam.
