I wrote this book because I have been asked by a number of people—my family, my former Church members and others who are my friends—to put my memories in writing while I am still of sound mind and still alive upon the earth. My intention is to reveal some of my life experiences in this autobiography, as well as to share my faith that has guided me, particularly in the 30 some years of the Ministry in the United Methodist Church. Some of the people mentioned in the book are now deceased, having finished their course of faith upon the earth. Others are still alive, and I wrote about them according to the best memory that I have at this time in my life. It is never my intention to make fun of or to slander any of these people. And I hope that the readers of the book will find it inspirational as well as informative. Why this particular title? Much soul searching was spent in trying to find just the right title. The title I chose comes from a scripture passage in Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, found in the seventh chapter of the Gospel of Matthew, in the King James Version, verses 13 & 14. “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” My fervent hope is that some readers of my book will find this road that leads to somewhere.
