Excerpt from The Yale Literary Magazine, Vol. 82: April, 1917The idea, or rather the superstition that beneath the some what forbidding but entirely lovable and holy, brown cover of the lit. There lurk deeps not comfortable for the ordinary diver, is one that is justified only in part by the above state ments. A magazine, after all, depends on the ideas of its contributors and the ideals of its readers. Has become isolated from the College, the blame rests almost equally on the shoulders of reader, contributor and editor. The first volume of the lit. Began with an address to the Gentle Reader.
