Mary Lennox is an ill-tempered and spoiled little girl. When both her parents die, she is sent to live with her sad uncle in a rambling old manor house. At first, Mary hates the manor house, but in the grounds she discovers a mysterious garden that has been locked up for ten years. Even more mysteriously, she meets Colin, a sickly boy who has been hidden from the world since the garden was locked. Mary and Colin, along with their friend Dickon, help the secret garden to come alive again. And as the garden blooms once more, its special magic brings happiness to everyone in the unhappy old house.
