"The Nigger of the Narcissus" tells the story of a Black sailor with tuberculosis whose impending death touches his fellow crewmen in various profound and heart-warming ways. This text, despite its obviously antiquated terminology, is highly recommended for fans of Conrad's work, and would make for a worthy addition to any personal library. Joseph Conrad (1857 - 1924) was a Polish-born author. He is considered one of the greatest novelists in the English language, even though he did not have a fluent grasp of the vernacular until he was in his twenties. This book was first published in 1897, and is being republished now in an affordable, modern edition complete with a specially commissioned new biography of the author.
