THE NATURE OF THINGS (De Rerum Natura) is the only extant work by Roman Epicurean poet and philosopher Lucretius. The poem explores notions of Epicurean physics, including the idea of Atomism, the basis for modern atomic theory. Lucretius' work influenced later poets, including Virgil and Horace.
