Driven by traditions and customs, lifelong friends Magena and Machk, move away from the Hopi Indian Reservation to find themselves in Phoenix. Machk is in love with his best friend, yet she doesn't seem to realize it. When she starts dating another man, Machk gets jealous and starts to date someone else. Their friendship falters and Magena slowly starts to fall in love with Machk after realizing his feelings for her. Things begin to get more complicated as both of them carry a secret as they are from the Bear Clan which they must hide from both their significant others.Magena and Machk soon find one another on the soul plane as both of their spirit bear calls out to one another. Machk still has feelings for Magena yet falls in love with another woman, named Jenee. Machk finds himself in a war of hearts as he loves a woman who is his soulmate, Magena and Jenee. Magena and Machk's spirit bear continue to find another, thus marking each other as mates. Magena soon makes the decision of her life to embrace her new-found feelings while Machk must determine his spirit bear calling out to his mate and Jenee. Their hearts become intertwined as the heart of the spirit bear becomes the true manner between Magena and Machk.
