Business is simple really, even when the numbers are big. Sell for a copper more than you buy and live happily ever after, of course as soon as you think you have grasped what business is all about something arrives from left-field to make you think again. This is especially true if you are trying to breathe life into an industrial giant limping towards oblivion. There were many challenges to be confronted and overcome from Halfway to Paris, thankfully not all of them life threatening. Halfway, is a mere thousand kilometres from Paris, but the chic capital of France, with its wide boulevards and stylish architecture could be on a different planet from my childhood home in a small dark hamlet dominated by mountains of coal slag. Fortunately, I felt very much at home in Paris and just as comfortable meeting and greeting Princes, Presidents and Prime Ministers.
