It's the end of the world. Desmond knows this, and when his friend Tom calls up, desperate for help, he offers whatever assistance he can. Desmond agrees to drive to Chicago to pick up Tom's daughter, and to take in Tom's family in the coming nightmare they're about to face. What he does not expect is how, as the world is falling apart around them, he will find love for the first time in his long and lonely life. In a race to survive and keep those in his care alive, Desmond is forced to make a life altering decision. Stay and face the hordes of undead threatening to break inside his fences now that the electricity has died, or to run.
