Amorous entanglements, a charming Victorian hamlet at the base of Guanella Pass, small-town social politics (in short, "petty and pesky diatribes"), a fetching feline who abhorred an occasional specter in a haunted mansion she shared with the author, and an amorous newcomer who moved here to try and forget his recent romantic woes with a former broken relationship. (Little did he know his life was going to get complicated again!) Based on a true story where all the characters' names were changed to protect the not-so-innocent, the impassioned thesis of this slightly naughty novel is, admittedly unduly dramatic in parts. Then again, sometimes convoluted love affairs sometimes are melodramatic.
