This is a history of Sicily from prehistorical time to the present. The author's thesis is that Sicily, which is one of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean, has been exploited by many different powers for its beauty, climate and wealth. All the foreign invaders, the Romans, the Arabs, the Normans, the French and the Spaniards have made it a trampled paradise.
