Not to be confused with the Ohio-based Christian metalcore band of the same name, the Corpus Christi featured on RISING is an extreme black metal band from Portugal. Matching guttural, tortured groans, inhumanly fast blast beats, and minor-key thrash guitar riffs, the band creates a dark, frightening atmosphere throughout. Song titles such as "Torrents of Sorrow" and "Heavenless Bliss" give a clue as to the nature of the largely indecipherable lyrics, and add to the overall unwaveringly bleak vibe.
