As the cholera plague ravages the Canadian prairie in 1832, the dead are everywhere-abandoned on roadsides, stacked in wagons, and buried in hastily dug cholera pits. No one trusts appearances anymore. Some say the dead are not always dead. Young Paolo, a gravedigger by day and a remembrance man by night, is paid to watch graves for signs that the dead may still be alive. When he uncovers a woman buried alive, he is drawn into a terrifying story of revenge and insanity.
