"Pieces of Eight" is a re-imagining of "Treasure Island" as seen through the eyes of Long John Silver, with some additional chapters concerning this most famous of fictional pirates' early life, prior career and eventual retirement. It is written with a scrupulous reverence for Stevenson's original work and an eye to detail that picks up many passing references from that book. Most likely to be of interest to readers who already know and love "Treasure Island", the book is written in a distinctive "pirate voice" that however should be easily accessible to readers aged ten and over.
