Mystics in Action presents the stories of twelve activist mystics who awaken us to our own calling as mystics, people who encounter God in life-changing ways, and then go out to change the world. These twelve figures from a variety of traditions include Thomas Merton, Abraham Joshua Heschel, Dorothy Day, Martin Luther King, Jr, Peace Pilgrim, Simone Weil, Dietrich Bonhoffer, Albert Schweitzer, Rufus Jones, Oscar Romero, Dag Hammarskjold, and St Theresa of Calcutta. Each in their way show how our encounters with God call us to move from isolated individualism to a common call and response.
