Monte Hale started his movie career at Republic Pictures in April 1946 with "HomeOn the Range". PICTURE NEWS #8, adapted the film into comic form, but no otherHale stories were published until the popular Fawcett company began publishingMONTE HALE WESTERN with issue #29. It was the first Monte Hale comic, butFawcett picked up the numbering sequence from the recently canceled MARYMARVEL Comics.The Fawcett issues had beautiful photo covers . Carl Pfeufer, best known for his exciting work on Fawcett's TOM MIX, drew Monte's stories with an inking assist from John Jordan. The series lasted until issue #82. Charlton then published six issues, but they were reprints of the Fawcett issues.This book is available in both hardcover and trade paperback edition as well as in full color or black & white
