Miriam's father has remarried and her step-mother doesn't like her. She doesn't have many options as she's uninterested in the young man that is courting her and sees the step-mother's treatment only getting worse...So she runs away. Not knowing how to navigate through the woods outside her Amish community, she falls ill and is taken in by a local Native American tribe. The young man from her Amish community has not given up on her and tracks her down to her new home with the tribe.
