The absence of a position should not be interpreted as support for, or opposition to, any other statement made by Church members. The lack of a specific position is not to be understood to mean that geography is not important. As the author, I accept full responsibility for the representations made herein. It is, however, the express counsel of modern prophets and apostles that members and scholars gain a spiritual witness of the Book of Mormon by reading it and not by evidences of archaeology, anthropology, or geography alone. For believers in the prophetic mission of Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon is a history book as well as another testament of Jesus Christ. For some nonbelievers, skeptics, and dogmatists, the Book of Mormon is a fantasy tale from the creative mind of Joseph Smith.
