Magical Horses is the story of Azaka, the Spirit of the Fields,whose arrogance and greed lead him to a horrible fate. Azaka's fear oflosing his fortune by sharing with others reminds me of the pitfalls ofcapitalism as we know it. I take the reader to the magical world ofHaitian mythology, full of visual intensity, song, dance, and colorfulrituals that culminate to a surprising ending. I highly recommend reading Magical Horses because because it explores the archetypes of a spiritual culture that has been mystified and misunderstood.
