either catch fire or nearly fall apart on this up-and-down 1979 gig in Los Angeles, , but the sound quality is surprisingly good, especially in comparison to other releases in 's Live from the Vaults series. The tapes are from the same source as the bootleg recording that's circulated for years. The clean sound could stand some room ambiance and the packaging could stand a little more information (like the date of the recording, which is December 14). Fans of this era who can endure some distortion and dropouts are better served by the series' show, which finds the band much hotter and more hungry than they are here. ~ David Jeffries
