This is a personal account of a historical figure set in the context of his time but whose deep understanding of the world, unique intellect, and strong leadership has had a lasting impact on the course of events and which gives the subject, 'Abdu'l-Bahá (or Servant of the Glory, in Arabic), an innate, inevitable, transcendental quality to greatness. His actions and ideas continue to significantly influence the course of history. It is hoped that the study of this short reading proves profitable not just because of the extraordinary human story here contained which offers a model for emulation but also an understanding of the proper direction of history and the spirit of the age or
zeitgeist.
The book
refers not just to the defining intellectual, cultural, ethical, and political climate of his day as much as to our Angst today in the modern world. If there is one continuum to be found in the book it is the narrative of interconnections and the moral imagination.
Shahbaz Fatheazam
was born in India and in 1963 moved to Haifa, the Holy Land, where he accompanied his parents in distinguished service at the World Center of the Bahá'í Faith. He then left for the United Kingdom to complete his studies graduating from both the University of London and the London School of Economics and Political Science. In the mid-1980s, with further graduate studies completed in Canada, he moved to Brazil with his wife, a clinical psychologist, and where he resides to this day as Regional Director of a US clinical information systems company. This book is his second publication.
