Excerpt from Harrow Memorials of the Great War, Vol. 3: September 13th, 1915, to July 3rd, 1916Youngest son of the late Charles Frederick Amery, of the Indian Forestry Department, and of Mrs. Amery. Sandhurst, 1895.Major Amery was gazetted to the Black Watch in 1897. After four years in India he was seconded for service with the Egyptian Army in 1901, and remained in Egypt till 191 1, for the greater part of the time as Assistant Director of Intelligence and Indian Agent. In 1912 he was admitted to the Staff College.
