Fairy Tales & Silly Songs, a companion eBook to the CD/download, consists of playful little stories to read to little people, aged four to eight, tenderly retold with lyrical poems, gentle humor, and, of course, happy endings. The philosophy behind the plays is to eliminate the violence of the original fairy tales while retaining their psychological and emotional power--and adding a few laughs. The philosophy behind the Silly Songs is to have whimsical fun playing with words. Most of the Silly Songs were spontaneously created by Jessica when she was about eight years old, and they retain her child’s humor and, yes, silliness. The fairy tales are “The Frog Prince,” “Sisters” (inspired by “Diamonds & Toads”), and “Gabriel, the Stargazer” (inspired by “The Twelve Dancing Princesses”). The six original Silly Songs include two ABC songs, one to the tune of Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nacht Musik, and three that are full of whimsical wordplay. Stephanie Concepcion has created delightful illustrations for the stories and the Silly Songs. Gizem Gokoglu has simplified the piano arrangements from the audio version to be suitable for playing by beginning piano students. All the lyrics are included, so children can play and sing along.
