The reform of SGB VIII and the Child and Youth Strengthening Act (KJSG) of 2021 require the development and implementation of institution-specific violence protection concepts in after-school care centers to ensure the physical and psychological integrity of children. This work examines the legal framework, the need for a holistic protection concept and shows how evidence-based intervention strategies can be successfully implemented. One focus is on the theoretical foundation of the concept of violence in the educational context and on the differentiation of various forms of violence (physical, psychological, structural and sexualized violence). The implementation of an effective violence protection concept requires multi-professional cooperation and the participatory involvement of children, parents and professionals. The paper describes the methodological steps for developing a protection concept, including risk analyses, risk assessments and the development of specific intervention strategies. Reference is made to proven concepts of child protection work and pedagogical action plans.
