No sooner has Steven Keel, a novice detective in Missing Persons at the Flagstaff, Arizona police department, returned from the police academy than he is confronted with another unusual case. An astronomer from the local observatory has been reported missing by his obnoxious supervisor while everyone else thinks he fled to get away from her. Keel must use diplomacy and restraint in order to discover what really happened.
