Cash on the Barrel Head

This set is brief -- only ten tracks -- but it's full of wonderful sides. was the guitar and harmony vocal half of the duo with his brother , who played mandolin and sang high-tenor lead vocals, in the 1950s and early '60s (the brothers stopped performing together in 1963, two years before 's death in a terrible car accident). went on to a long solo career, and this set collects some of his highlights, including remakes of "I Don't Believe You've Met My Baby" (the original version was a number one hit for in 1956) and "Cash on the Barrel Head" (the original by went to number seven on the charts, also in 1956). ~ Steve Leggett
