Ancient Greek goddesses are both powerful and resonant, even today, in the twenty first century. Every goddess is cloaked with mythological stories of lust, love, heartbreak, hurting, healing, fate, destiny, life, death and so much more. The fascinating stories of these ancient Greek goddesses are embedded within the pages of so many books, books just like Asteria, that are yearning to be read. My aim with Asteria was to bring these goddesses to life once again through 180 rhymed poems. Each of the nine chapters relate to one particular goddess, with the poems from her chapter unravelling her own mythology whilst also unveiling her own unique story. Asteria reveals her primary association with a single human emotion, feeling and experience that is still relatable even today, almost 3,000 years later. Every rhymed poem has been delicately interwoven with the mythology of the following nine ancient Greek goddesses, some you may already be aware of, others may be new to you, but they all have a story to tell, if you have the time to hear them.As the goddess of lust, Siren relates to themes of lust, seduction, compulsion, deceit, and betrayal. As the goddess of woe, Oizys relates to themes of woe, heartbreak, grief, misery, and sadness. As the goddess of love, Aphrodite relates to themes of love, beauty, jealousy, envy, and passion. As the goddess of life and death, Persephone relates to themes of life, death, sacrifice, and obsession. As the goddesses of fate, The Fates relates to themes of fate, destiny, mortality, and soul mates. As the goddess of the fallen star, Asteria relates to themes of the stars and their connection to the soul. As the goddess of the moon, Selene relates to themes of the moon, darkness, and dreams. As the goddess of night, Nyx relates to themes of solitude, darkness, evil, and the unseen. As the goddess of magic, Circe relates to themes of magic, unrequited love, bitterness, temptation and the unknown. Welcome to Asteria.
