Hello there. I understand that people have different reasons for getting journals... whether they just want a place to jot down ideas, or they want to memorialize their days for later introspection, or because it's a quiet way to "let it out". That said, I wanted to explain some things.
Some people write more than others, or have a particularly good or bad time and need more space to write, which isn't a problem. Our journals are loosely designed to allow one or two pages per day, and to last for one to three months. I also like to include some blank pages in the back in case you have some special inspirations or thoughts that you want to jot down and be able to find very easily.
The journals are typically, intentionally, kept on the shorter side of things because I believe that introspection is important. It is a lot easier for you to look back and evaluate the month, with better accuracy, than it is to look back and consider the entire year, when details have been forgotten or become vague. I want you to be able to look back and remember the details: the hardships you've made it through, the happiness you encountered, and the plans or decisions you've made.
The best way to measure your progress is to see how far you've come, remember what you had to do to get where you are, and acknowledge who you've become. I encourage you to consider every journal to be a chapter in the book of your life. As with any book, some may be uneventful, but may also contain important pieces that make the rest make sense.
Regardless of your journaling purpose, every line you write is a step towards a goal. You may not know what that goal is, or understand it yet, but it's good to keep an open mind, because you're getting closer to it.
