In their first twenty years of active service, Company H participated in every Indian campaign on the southern plains. Members of the company were involved in battles from Beecher's Island to San Juan Hill. They served at military posts from Kansas to Texas to Montana and even Vermont. Their history provides an essential view of military life and experience for black soldiers of the United States Army from the Civil War through World War II.
