In August 2008, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) released DrugAbuse Warning Network, 2006: National Estimates of Drug-Related Emergency Department Visits. This annual reportincluded estimates for 2006 and comparisons of the emergency department estimates for 2004, 2005, and 2006. The 2006 estimates reflect several improvements made to the Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN) samplingand estimation methodology. To ensure comparability between estimates for 2004, 2005, and 2006, theimprovements were applied retrospectively to 2004 and 2005 data, resulting in small changes as compared with earlypublished estimates.Tables for 2005 that have not already been published in the 2006 ED report are now available online. The 2005tables and charts follow the same title and numbering system as the 2006 ED report.
