- Imagine: Sun streaming through breeze-swayed garments on a clothesline; the graceful gesture of a dancer’s skirt as they twirl; the transformative effect of wearing a beautiful garment. These are the ephemeral moments Wooj sought to capture with the design of our Pleat Lamp. A playful take on the classic table lamp silhouette, the lamp captures the dynamic and elegant flow of a pleated skirt in motion and the delicate transmission of light through silk curtains on a breezy morning. The Pleat Lamp is the result of a blend of methodical programming and cheerfully flippant serendipity — exposing Wooj’s computationally derived designs to physical chance and happy accident — to yield a result which feels at once refined and whimsical. These lamps are the first in the Pleat series, Wooj’s fourth collection since our founding last year. Like the rest of Wooj’s catalog, these lamps are made from predominantly recycled materials (in this case, post-industrial polyethelene from the medical industry) and are 3D printed, assembled, and shipped from Wooj’s Brooklyn Studio.
- Due to our 3D printing process, each product will have minor variations in color and texture. This is part of what makes each item unique!
