Most people don't like Claude Soto when they meet him. He's a mean, unhappy little insomniac with a penchant for confrontation and nothing short of contempt for his fellow man. He's accepted this, for the most part, and would have lived all his adult life making trouble in lieu of friends. That is, until the day he's marked as prey in a bookstore. Marked by a werewolf.
What follows is the escalation of events and Claude's further descent into the culture and wonder of the hidden changelings that walk among us. The golden boy of the Texas packs, Hugh Farrington, opts to "befriend" the human rather than eat him, but will this be any help in the power struggles coming for them? Or will Claude simply make things worse?
