The book analyses the production and reception of allegorical wall paintings of the Trecento in the context of patronage, image politics and media aesthetics. Examining programs such as Guariento's frescos in the Church of the Eremitani at Padua or the so-called Allegory of Knowledge, the study explores processes of knowledge transfer based on the materiality, mediality and aesthetics of artworks.
