Why Is We Americans?

Writer-director Udi Aloni documents the Baraka family, from patriarch poet-activist Amiri Baraka to his legacy carried on by his children. The narrative covers their decades-long involvement in politics, art, poetry, and music, including their important participation in social activism starting in the 1960s and continuing to today, with Amiri's son Ras serving as the mayor of Newark.
