Six matching boxes is what makes a shelving unit work properly. Storage boxes are only useful when they match, because a run of identical boxes across a shelf reads as tidy while an assortment of different ones reads as clutter with lids on. Buying a set removes the problem at the outset. Each box measures 10.2 in long by 10.2 in wide and 11 in high, which is a compact footprint that fits cube shelving and stacks neatly on an open shelf. Each carries up to 11 lb, enough for books, toys, folded clothes, or the accumulated small items that have nowhere else to go.The boxes fold flat when they are not in use, which matters because storage needs change. Six boxes collapsed take almost no space, so the ones you are not using go behind a wardrobe rather than sitting empty on a shelf. Construction is cardboard with non-woven and oxford fabric, bringing the total weight for all six to 6 lb. The rustic brown and black finish is neutral enough to disappear into a bookcase rather than drawing attention to itself.
