A storage basket with a lid sits in a living room or a bedroom in plain view, which is why the weave matters as much as the capacity. Plastic rattan gives the texture of a natural basket without the problems real rattan has indoors, which are that it dries out, splits, and sheds fibres onto whatever is stored inside. At 26 in wide by 15.7 in deep and 15.7 in high, the basket holds 27.7 Gal, which takes a season of blankets, a household's worth of toys, or the cushions that come off a sofa at night. That is a real volume rather than a decorative one, and the lid means none of it is visible. A metal frame inside the weave keeps the basket square and rigid rather than bulging as it fills, which is what separates a basket that stacks or slides under a console from one that ends up misshapen. A polycotton liner protects the contents from the weave. Overall static capacity is 55 lb and the basket weighs 6.8 lb, light enough to move fully loaded with the handles.
