A laundry basket sits in a bathroom or a bedroom in plain view, which is why what it looks like matters as much as what it holds. Woven plastic rattan gives the texture of a natural basket without the problem real rattan has in a damp room, which is that it absorbs moisture, discolours, and eventually starts to smell. The liner is polycotton and removable, which is the feature that makes the basket practical. It lifts out with the laundry inside, goes to the machine as the carrier, and can itself be washed when it needs it. A basket with a fixed lining means transferring the contents into something else first. The basket holds 23.8 Gal, which is a full household wash between loads, on a footprint of 18.1 in long by 13 in wide and 23.6 in high. A lid keeps the contents out of sight, which is the whole reason to choose a basket with one. The metal frame gives it a rigid shape rather than slumping as it fills, and overall static capacity is 55 lb.
