Unveiling John's Visions, subtitled: An Intelligible Unfolding of the Book of Revelation, is an exposition of Revelation that offers practical insights that will help the reader better understand the visions and symbols found throughout the book. This exposition of Revelation is not meant for the erudite, but rather for the believer in the pew. Just reading through the book of Revelation can be perplexing to most readers without the expositor making it even more mystifying. My purpose in writing this exposition of Revelation is to make the visions John was given intelligible, which is no small task. People tend to read part way through the book of Revelation, scratch their head and slowly close the book. But the book of Revelation is important. It is the response of a loving God to a world that has turned her back on Him, and not only turned her back on Him, but has actually turned against Him, a world that has become God's enemy. Sadly, as I look at the world today, including America, I see a world that has largely made itself an enemy of God. Furthermore, I see a church that has largely accommodated the culture of the day, a culture that opposes the truth of the Word of God. Our world is ripe for the unfolding of God's Revelation. But do we understand the nature of that revelation? I write this exposition of Revelation with the hope that it will give clarity, insight, bring life-change if needed, and fill your heart with hope. The visions of the future given to John in the book of Revelation are ultimately a call to repentance and renewed commitment to Christ. In 2009, forty-eight years after my first sermon, and thirty-eight years after getting started in ministry, I finally had the courage to take on the monumental and seemingly impossible task of preaching through the book of Revelation. I feared the undertaking would be the worst series of sermons I had ever attempted. However, rather than the worst series, it proved to be one of the best series I ever ventured. The preparation and preaching gave me a fuller, deeper understanding of the bits and pieces of prophecy I was familiar with from other books of the Bible, and answered many questions that had puzzled me over the years. My study in preparation for that series that was preached at Faith Bible Church (mornings) and Gull Lake Bible Church (evenings) in Michigan, also unified the prophetic picture for me, and led me to conclusions both expected and unexpected. My exposition of Revelation resulted in more than forty some sermons. Taking those sermons along with further research into the book was no small task. I trust this exposition of Revelation will prove a help and blessing to those who peruse its pages. I would encourage reading the whole of the book-bringing all the parts together-before making a final judgment relative to the themes developed along the way. Being committed to the truth of the Word of God and appropriate principles of interpretation, my study of the book of Revelation changed my understanding of the revelation within John's visions in a number of areas.
