On an early spring day, John Cromartie and Josephine Lackett stroll through the gardens of the Zoological Society of London. As the pair discuss love and their future, John has an idea: he’ll display himself as a zoo animal like any other. If Josephine loves him, she’ll be unable to bear it, and if she doesn’t, well, it doesn’t quite matter to John where he is.
