20th Century African American Female Soldier's
journey through the
United States Army
. She held her tongue often. She gracefully bowed out of confrontational situations. She was often
depressed
, and struggled with
anxiety
. She explains how she
overcame challenges

obstacles
over a course of 23 years of service in the military. Through it all, she began to
understand her purpose
in the Army and in
leadership
. In retrospect, she started out at the
Private First Class
(PFC) rank and became a
Lieutenant Colonel
(LTC) with a Ph.D. Whatever you want to
