Regular paying of tithe has been taught in many of the churches to be the key that releases abundant financial blessing upon the tither yet a large number of people who regularly paid their tithe are still trapped in the financial quagmire the world is experiencing. If adherence to the doctrine of tithing is really the key to financial abundance, then Jesus Christ would not have told the Pharisees that though they strictly tithed their income, yet they will experience only woes, not blessings. For, he expressly said to them, “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb garden, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law—justice, mercy, and faith…Blind guides! You strain your water so you won’t accidentally swallow a gnat, but you swallow a camel!” (Matthew 23:23-24, N. L.
