This book is one of expository notes on Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi. Mr. Roberts has picked up the setting of Judah following the return of the Jews from the Babylonian Captivity in Iraq. After seventy years of captivity, they are free again. They have become apathetic, however, about their duty to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. Instead they have turned to build for themselves. Haggai and Zechariah have been sent by God to arouse them and encourage them to rebuild the temple. These two prophets did accomplish their mission, but they did more than that. They were allowed to look ahead and see the end times. Their prophecies were not only an encouragement to those returning Jews but also to all in regard to the end times. Malachi also prophesied in that time to prepare those children of Israel to prepare for the coming of the Lord.
