The Witch Hunter's Wards: or, The Hunted Orphans of Salem in Bloomington, MN

It was a time of hysteria, superstition and witch trials. In Salem, Mass. in 1692 the Puritans' fear of the Devil's doings hit a fever pitch. And unscrupulous men seeking power and wealth exploited the fear and ignorance of the town's inhabitants to enrich themselves at mortal cost to others. Thrust into this trap are the orphans Abner and Mercy Putnam, wards of the conniving witch hunter Isaac Hardcraft, who conspired to steal their inheritance and marry the beautiful Mercy. After she and her beloved Paul Sheldon are accused of witchcraft they are arrested and face the gallows. A desperate plan by Abner and their Indian friend Leanope may be their only hope to escape the terror of Witch Hill.
