The Ugly Side follows two different families whose lives intertwine under unfortunate circumstances.Anne and William Lorton must deal with their eldest daughter's heroin addiction-all while keeping their other daughters away from the chaos and attempting to salvage their marriage. But when their youngest daughter is killed in a tragic accident, Anne finds herself unable to cope and in the psych ward.On the other side of town is Alexis. She's a 20-year-old living at home with her mother, with whom she shares a complicated relationship. Alexis struggles with a mental health disorder and after a violent outburst at work, she goes home and attempts to take her own life. She too ends up in the psych ward-the same one as Anne.As the Lorton's try to survive the mayhem that seems to follow them, Alexis must choose between improving her estranged relationship with her mother or focusing on-and saving-herself.
