The Smurfs are back in new stories in English for the first time! When Papa Smurf lodges a complaint about a recent poor harvest which led to a food shortage in Smurf village, Homnibus gives the Smurfs a sack of purple beans he claims can be used as food. Hoping this will solve their problems for the coming winter, Papa Smurf, Farmer Smurf and Chef Smurf work together in secrecy to introduce a delicious new meal to the village using the beans. The only problem is the purple beans become so popular, many Smurfs can’t stop eating them and become overweight. However, a small group of Smurfs, led by Smurfette, resist the purple beans and try to convince the Smurfs to quit eating them and embrace a healthier lifestyle.
