Ashok Bruge is twenty-three years old and fresh out of graduate school with a degree in structural engineering and an interplanetary certification. Determined to leave behind his humdrum life on Rithena, his human-inhabited native planet, he takes a job on Gobi, another of the Far Worlds. There, he meets the intriguing itinerant musician Cade Daka, a man with a dark past and a lot of secrets. Despite the differences in their backgrounds and cultures, the attraction between them is immediate and strong. But Cade has a reputation for taking younger lovers and then abandoning them as he moves on, and Ash is more naïve than he thinks he is. Is there any way they can build a relationship? Should they even try? Ash soon finds that Gobi is nothing like Rithena, and that the Far Worlds have challenges that he never anticipated.
