The Silent Drum

This harrowing and poignant story is about a girl called Esi Takyiwaa Kwaku born free into an African village in 1785 who becomes a victim of the abhorrent trans-Atlantic slave trade. Esi tells her personal account of the pain and suffering she endures whilst having every part of her human rights stolen away from her. Introduced to deceit and betrayal at an early age by those she trusted, Esi uses the knowledge and stealth she was taught as a child to survive her captivity. "They are called slaves in the eyes of those who take their innocent victims yet they are captives in the vision of those whose lives were stolen wrongly from them." Does she succeed or does she fail? One thing is certain she will not give up her desire for freedom.
