When a terrorist sneaks into the colony and kills fifteen shifter younglings, effectively cutting off the lines of fifteen families forever, the Shifters go mad with grief. In a bid to quell a proposed genocide of the Elven and human kingdoms. Mansrader, a Shifter priest, convinces the Shifter King to send out spies to find out exactly where the threat lurks. Shiobi, a skilled spy and warrior, heads to the Kingdom of Ayres with no idea of the impact her phoenix magic had previously impressed upon the people.
