The Scholars of Sagittarius

Astrologer Abigail Sterling has stars in her eyes. A Sagittarian with unflagging enthusiasm for the life of the mind, the sixty-five year old Sterling has no intention of slowing down. Instead, she aims to advance her higher education while at the same time, starting a school for astrology in her charming but conservative southern hometown. Accompanied by her clever Gemini newspaperman, Sterling boldly ventures into a writing program at the local university, where she encounters a stiff and unanticipated rebuff. A traditionalist with an interest in the Masonic history of the South, Sterling ruffles the feathers of the progressive wing in academia. She discovers she has no idea of the complexities boiling under the surface, which include race tensions from centuries before and an ominous foreign influence. Meanwhile, Sterling rounds up an astrology class and leads her students on a tour of ancient stellar wisdom. As the campus controversy heats up, so does Sterling's metaphysical quest, leading to an encounter with the Horned God of Antiquity. Neither Sterling nor her students are left unchanged after Sterling performs magical ceremonies in the mid-winter wildwoods of scenic Arkansas.
