After the mental and emotional tornado Sterling and Jessica went through, Brody is bringing them back to quarantine. Only this time, the Protectors have a set of demands to adhere to. They must rearrange the outpost so the subjects can interact with each other and stop messing with their minds. But Sterling cannot get past Brody's ambiguous reasons for returning them to the place they warred two months to be free from. And now, there is a new Protector, Dr. Jeremiah Lynch, calling the shots and reprimanding Dr. Lawrence for her robotic management. He is very kind to the subjects and creates a new lifestyle that they almost dare to enjoy. But even though Sterling and Jessica are making friends and falling deeper in love, they can never get completely comfortable. Regardless of what they are told, they cannot help but feel like pawns in a chess game between Brody and TSA. And who is Kaitlyn, really? The answers might prove more painful than the questions.
